Asia Affinity Group’s Chairman & CEO Graham Clark recently took part in CM50’s pivotal gathering in Madrid, Spain, as it enters a significant new phase in advancing the global movement to strengthen the role of cooperatives and mutuals worldwide.
Happened on May 21-22, Graham joined cooperative and mutual leaders from across the globe with a shared vision of advancing decent work, social justice, democratic participation, and social innovation in this sector. The meeting in Madrid underscored the need for stronger global advocacy and policy engagement to amplify the voice of cooperatives on the international stage.
Participants exchanged strategic recommendations to ensure meaningful representation in upcoming forums, particularly as the world prepares for the World Social Summit. This collaborative dialogue also marked the first step toward a collective Five-Year Commitment Plan, with proposed workstreams that aim to improve access to finance, markets, and institutional support, as well as more inclusive policymaking and regulatory frameworks.

“It’s a privilege to be among leaders who share a deep commitment to the cooperative and mutual sector,” said Graham Clark. “This is a moment to act boldly and with purpose, and I look forward to working with this group to drive meaningful change and ensure that cooperatives remain central to building a more inclusive and sustainable society.”
Our Chairman & CEO’s presence at this gathering expresses the Group’s continued belief in the cooperative model and our readiness to contribute actively to shaping a future where these values are reflected in global systems.
As a Group rooted in cooperation and purpose, we are excited about what lies ahead, and we look forward to engaging more deeply in this movement and working with like-minded leaders to ensure that cooperatives and mutuals continue to be agents of inclusive and sustainable change.
